My Architectural Digest Cover
First look at my cover of Architectural Digest!!!
When I bought my home two years ago, one of my first phone calls was to Martyn Lawrence Bullard to come walk through my home and tell me what he thought. I loved all of his ideas and we were totally on the same page. We both wanted the house to be slightly modern, warm, neutral, chic and—most importantly—to reflect my own personal style.
One of the most important things to me was for it to be a fun family house where nothing is off limits to my children, niece and nephew, and all of their friends. Every single room in my house is used, unlike at my last home, where some rooms were just not practical. You live and you learn!
Another one of my first meetings was with Richard Landry, the home's architect, who also happens to be a family friend. My mom and I called him immediately when I closed escrow and walked the house with him, taking in every suggestion. This entire process has been one I will always remember and cherish.
Working with James Hyatt, my landscape architect (and one of the sweetest men I have ever met), was also an incredible experience. He truly envisioned how I would be living my life with my family and friends outside, and made that a reality. He would say, "I see you sitting outside drinking a glass of wine, talking with friends and watching the sunset over here...drinking tea in the morning outside at this table...and making pizzas in the summer at your pizza oven over there!" His vision has blessed my family and me with such a wonderful California lifestyle.
Martyn and I instantly hit it off and had so much fun shopping together. He has also helped educate me so much on art and collecting black and white photography. Khloé and I bought our homes at the same time and have really been on this journey together.
I feel so lucky and proud to have made such a beautiful home for my family to live in, and I am so happy to get to share it in the absolute coolest way possible—through Architectural Digest. Somebody pinch me!
